SACCO CAFFÈ, VIA GALLIA 68, 00183 ROMA
Rating: Standard, good Illy coffee served
In the San Giovanni area of Rome there’s a very nice, anglo-styled coffee shop, cum-bistro bar. It’s called Sacco Caffè and it’s got free Wifi and a relaxed atmosphere where folks are lounging in the interior and enjoying their time in the place. It’s got a shabby-chic French-esque nice interior that is welcoming and upbeat. I was glad to discover this place as I was looking for a locale where I could come to be relaxed, enjoy coffee and do some reading.

Asking for a coffee got me this:

Presentation: Water was served immediately, even at the terrace where I was. It was served in a shot glass, that was a great touch. The cup was nice, smallish-round and inviting.
Temperature of Cup: The cup was scalding hot, not a good start, but let’s give it a chance anyway.
Quantity: Given the size of the cup, it was a shot on the short-side, this is good.
Temperature: I had to wait about a minute, and by that time the espresso itself was at a very good temperature. Didn’t burnt the lips nor tongue.
Volume/Consistency: Good, thickish and silky.
Crema: Crema was dark and thick, I was glad, and it was all the front end of the shot.

Odor: No real coffee odor, and whatever was there couldn’t be smelled in the hot outside weather.
Taste: It had a thick consistency , and it was strong, sirupy, and not rancid. It was very bitter, but not disgusting.

Overall: It was a good strong, coffee with a nice bitter yet pleasant taste. It was one of the better Illy experiences I had.
The setup: The machine and grinder were La Cimbali and as you can see, Illy coffee. Nice, clean and tidy.
